Trinity Homecare contribute to the Burstow Commission
With the Prime Minister’s recent statement on pensions signalling an early start to pledges for the approaching election in 2015, the next year will be an important time in seeking to influence the thinking of the major parties as they develop their manifestos.
In this context, Mike Smith, one of Trinity Homecare directors has attended a meeting with leading Liberal Democrat MP, Paul Burstow MP at the House of Commons today, 11th February.
Paul, who was previously Minister of State for Care, is an influential figure within Parliament on the social care agenda. Having recently chaired the Joint Committee on the Draft Care and Support Bill, Paul is currently chairing The Commission on Residential Care (run by think-tank Demos) and a year- long independent commission on mental health with the think-tank CentreForum.
During the meeting, Mike and other Homecare Association members fed back their experiences and highlighted the positive contribution home care services can make to achieving policy priorities, at this key time for formulating policies for party manifestos.
