Ashlee, who is currently the Team Manager of our Live-in Care Coordinators, recently achieved her level 5 diploma in care leadership and management. Despite beginning her journey with Trinity Homecare in 2015 with no background in care, Ashlee has become an invaluable member of our team.
Initially, Ashlee worked as a hospitality project manager for a hotel chain and later held a similar role in one of South Africa’s largest private hospitals. With her children grown up and holding a British passport, she decided to move to the UK. Attracted by a job advertisement for a Live-in Carer position at Trinity Homecare, she saw it as an ideal opportunity for a career transition.
After successfully completing her interviews, Ashlee underwent the Trinity Homecare carer training and began her first assignment as a live-in carer. She spent three rewarding years with the same client, forming a deep bond with both the client and her family. Ashlee’s dedication even extended to accompanying her client on holidays. After the client passed away, Ashlee transitioned to a role in visiting care. Yet, within a year, she saw an opportunity to merge her project management expertise with her newfound skills in caregiving. She joined Trinity Homecare’s office support team as a Live-in Care Coordinator. Ashlee on top of her daily role headed up the management and implementation of an out-of-hours on-call support for carers over the weekends. Recognising her immense potential, the company promoted her to Lead Care Coordinator within just six months.
During the COVID outbreak in 2020, Ashlee led a reablement project for Trinity Homecare working closely with hospitals across Surrey organising immediate care for those being discharged from hospital but needing support at home freeing up vital bed space in hospitals. The initial trial was for 3 months but was incredibly successful and extended for six months.
In November 2021, Ashlee took a significant step by obtaining her CQC registration, which allowed her to become the Registered Manager of Genuine Care. A year and a half later, she was invited back to the Live-in Care team, this time stepping into her current role as the Team Manager of Coordinators.
Reflecting on her career progression, Ashlee notes, “I started at Trinity without any prior care experience, but the comprehensive training I received prepared me for my initial placement. The office team has been incredibly supportive; you never feel isolated here. The opportunities for continuous learning and career advancement have been remarkable. Working in the care sector has been fulfilling on so many levels, from connecting with clients and their families to collaborating with an exceptional team of colleagues.”
