Local Parkinson’s Care Groups
There are a number of Parkinson’s care and support groups in Surrey that can offer free and practical advice on the day-to-day management of Parkinson’s. Parkinson’s UK sets out to change attitudes and find a cure to Parkinson’s and arranges a number of local groups.
Guildford Parkinson’s Woking Age Group
The Guildford Working Age Group meets one Tuesday on alternate months. Meetings are held 7.30pm at The Parrot Inn, Broadford Road, Shalford, GU4 8DW.
The group offers information, friendship and support to local people with Parkinson’s, their families and carers. They also organise regular events and social activities.

Sutton, Kingston and Epsom Active Parkinson’s People
This local Parkinson’s group formed in July 2005 and welcome anyone with Parkinson’s who has a youthful outlook and lead fairly active lives. Their activities include:
- choir – second and fourth Wednesday of the month, coinciding with school terms. You don’t have to have Parkinson’s to be part of the Choir and we welcome family members and friends to join us. A full programme for 2015 including the timings for the Choir are available on request.
- social events – walks, games evening, quizzes, dinner evenings, days out and many more
- exchanging views and ideas about Parkinson’s
- discussing our experience of the drugs we have been prescribed
- providing an opportunity to be yourself
- forming strong friendships
- supporting people with Parkinson’s and their carers
- gaining information on new research, discoveries and progress in finding a solution to this progressive and degenerative condition
The group meets on the third Wednesday or each month 7.30pm – 9.3-pm. For further information please contact Proscovia Wagaba, Volunteer Co-ordinator on 0344 225 9851 or by email vc.south4@parkinsons.org.uk
In total there are around 365 Parkinson’s UK local groups throughout the UK. These are run by volunteers who usually have experience of Parkinson’s and are supported by Parkinson’s UK staff.
