How do you get in home care?
We all need a little help sometimes. Getting in some external support at home is nothing to worry about. The question is, how to get in-home care?
Options to get in home care
Funding is normally the biggest question. So, what options are there? The two options are to either fund it yourself, or to get help with funding costs.
To get help with funding costs you will need to get a care needs assessment to help pinpoint what support at home you may need. This must be done with your permission. Your carer, GP or district nurse can refer you for an assessment. As long as they have permission, even a friend or neighbour can contact adult social services and ask for someone to get an assessment.
Care needs assessments are done by adult social services department of your local council. Having an assessment will not cost you anything and you are entitled to one no matter of your financial circumstances.
The government website does have a search facility to help you find the contact details of your local council (*). AgeUK (*) also have some great resources that cover this over several articles depending on the advice you need.
