Supporting our local community with a food bank
The 16th of October marked World Food Day 2018 and this year, Alice and Claire from our team decided to turn the Trinity office into a food bank to support our community.
Why we’re helping
Hundreds of thousands of tonnes of good food is wasted by the UK food industry every year, but at the same time, millions of people are struggling to afford to eat. This reality is closer to home than many of us would believe. As we move towards what is threatening to be a perilously cold winter, this time of year is a prime opportunity to clear cupboards of unwanted food, blankets, clothes and supplies which could be a lifeline to others in your local community.
Trinity’s food bank
The idea started within our Trinity team, with many of our colleagues and TrinityCarers donating tins, jars and packets galore! Members of our local community joined us to contribute their donations and before we had even reached lunchtime, it became clear that we were going to need more boxes! Our friends in the shops along the High Street helped us with our packaging and collecting, and we’re delighted to have amassed 7 boxes brimming with vital supplies.
Thank you!
We’re so grateful to everyone who has contributed and donated to our food bank. Claire and Alice delivered the contents of our food bank to our local Salvation Army in Wimbledon today, and we’re delighted to have been able to support our community in a way that makes a real difference to their lives.
We’re committed to supporting life’s journeys. Thank you everyone from all of us at Trinity Homecare and thank you from those who are supported by the Salvation Army.
