Why is Alzheimer’s care important?
As Alzheimer’s becomes more prevalent in older people, we must adapt how we care for and support our elderly loved ones. Different stages of Alzheimer’s require different types of care to support comfortable living. However, there is no reason why someone with Alzheimer’s cannot continue living at home given the right care and support, no matter what stage of their illness.
Moderate and advanced Alzheimer’s can cause distress and confusion around new routines or environments, making good quality home care even more critical. Given the choice, most elderly people prefer to stay living at home rather than move into a care home or nursing home. At Trinity Homecare, we are passionate about providing high-quality home care that enables comfortable and safe independent living at home.
If you care for a loved one with Alzheimer’s, you know how distressing the illness can be and how challenging it is to provide consistent care. That’s why at Trinity Homecare we have been providing award-winning Alzheimer’s care for over 25 years through our team of experienced and compassionate carers.
We offer a range of flexible care options for people living at home with Alzheimer’s and dementia. From visiting care to live-in care and 24-hour care, whatever your care needs, we are here to support you to live a life you love, in the comfort of your own home.

How we provide Alzheimer’s care
The type of care a person living with Alzheimer’s requires depends on the stage of the illness and their personal circumstances, such as whether they live alone or have family carers. We provide a range of care options to suit all needs and our flexible approach means that as needs change, so does our care.
Symptoms may be fairly mild and centre around forgetfulness and disorientation. At this stage in the condition, it’s important to encourage as much social activity, exercise and cognitive engagement as possible to delay the progression as much as possible. Visiting care may be the most suitable type of care at this time and can be arranged for as little as 30 minutes per day or several visits per day.
At this stage, a person with Alzheimer’s will require a greater level of care as symptoms become evident. As routine and consistency are key for people with Alzheimer’s, introducing professional care at this stage is crucial to your loved one’s ability to form a bond and accept the care given to them before the more advanced stages set in. For many of our clients, this is the time when care transitions from visiting care to live-in care ensuring a carer is available round-the-clock if any needs arise.
The late stages of Alzheimer’s are characterised by a steep deterioration in the person’s condition and they will require 24-hour care that covers daytime and night-time support. Carers can assist with things like continence, eating and drinking, monitoring weight, night-time supervision and preparing tailored meals that the person is able to consume.
Why choose Alzheimer’s care at home?
Living in familiar and comfortable surroundings is crucial for people living with Alzheimer’s as changes to surroundings and routines can cause immense distress and confusion. Being able to remain at home surrounded by loved ones and memories gives great comfort and is the ideal choice for most people compared with a move into a residential care home.
When faced with the need for professional care many people worry about the costs involved. However, Alzheimer’s home care is often comparable to the cost of moving into a care home, and in some cases, such as visiting care or couples care, works out cheaper.
At Trinity Homecare, we are passionate about supporting people to live well with Alzheimer’s in the comfort of their own home. Get in touch with us today on 01908 183 4648 to find out how we can help you or a loved one.
